Student Voice and Leadership

At Hadleigh High School, we believe that students should have a genuine voice in the life of the school. Student voice gives young people opportunities to share their views, influence decisions and take an active role in shaping their school community.

We want our students to feel that their opinions are listened to and valued. Through student voice, students can contribute to areas such as:

School development and decision-making, helping to shape aspects of school life and our community values.
Teaching and learning, providing feedback about their experiences and suggesting ways in which learning can be improved.
School improvement projects, including student-led initiatives and Action Teams focused on making a positive difference to the school community.
Student wellbeing and belonging, helping us to understand what matters to our students and how we can make school an even more positive place to be.

Positions of Responsibility

There are many opportunities for students to take on responsibility and develop their leadership skills throughout their time at Hadleigh High School.

These include:

Head Students
Prefect Leaders
Primary Liaison Prefects
Junior House Prefects
Junior Sports Prefects
Transition Coaches
Year Council Representatives
School Council Representatives

These roles give students the opportunity to represent their peers, work alongside staff, organise activities and events, support younger students and contribute to the wider school community.

Why is Student Voice Important?

We believe that students who are actively involved in their school community develop greater confidence, independence and a stronger sense of belonging. Having opportunities to express their views, take responsibility and contribute to positive change helps students develop important skills that will benefit them both in school and beyond.

Student voice is therefore not simply about asking students what they think. It is about listening to their ideas, giving them meaningful opportunities to contribute and supporting them to become active participants in the life of Hadleigh High School.

We encourage all students to get involved, share their ideas and take advantage of the many opportunities available to make a positive difference.
